Charlie Company from the 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team began annual training on the morning of May 1, 2021 and returned from the Orchard Combat Training Center on the evening of May 13. The men and women of C Company completed a successful and challenging annual training in the OCTC. The unit completed Bradley Gunnery Table VI, qualifying 11 Bradley crews. The dismount infantry squads completed their qualifications for all six squads. During Charlie Company’s afternoon preparations, a sudden storm blew in across the desert and enveloped the soldiers and equipment in the compound. A sand storm sent soldiers running for cover and hurriedly dragging equipment and belongings into tracked vehicles for protection. Soldiers caught out in the open ran for cover behind available vehicles until the storm passed. Winds were clocked at over 30 mph with frequent gusts as high as 55 mph.
