Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Wigston and the the Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire Anna Turner JP, are shown advanced helicopter training simulators following the offical naming of RAF Shawbury’s Duke of Cambridge Building. Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Wigston CBE ADC has formally named a new flying training facility at RAF Shawbury’s No. 1 Flying Training School as The Duke of Cambridge Building in honour of The Duke of Cambridge’ who completed his own flying training at Shawbury during his years in the Royal Air Force. The Duke of Cambridge Building is part of the UK Military Flying Training System and houses state of the art training simulators and aides to enable future rotary pilots and aircrew to learn many of their skills before getting airborne in the modern fleet of 29 Juno (H135) and 3 Jupiter (H145) helicopters. The event also marked the official rebadging of the Defence Helicopter Flying Training School to No. 1 Flying Training School, and was also attended by the Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire Anna Turner JP.

Today (17/02/20) an Indian Soldiers smiles for the camera as he takes up a fire support position, ready for his platoons assault onto a position during a joint British and Indian exercise on Salisbury Plain. A composite company of soldiers from the 14th Battalion The Dogra Regiment have arrived in the UK to participate in the joint Indian and British Army exercise; Exercise Ajeya Warrior. Exercise Ajeya Warrior is held biannually in alternate countries and this year its the UK turn to host this prestigious training event. The two-week exercise is being held on Salisbury Plain and will see B Company, 1st Battalion The Rifles host soldiers of the 14th Battalion The Dogra Regiment. An opening ceremony to welcome the Indian contingent was held at Westdown Camp, Salisbury Plain. The aim of the exercise is to pool together ideas, enhance interoperability and developing army-to-army links. It will see troops from both sides working together in mixed companies on challenging scenarios, which test their abilities and stamina. They will participate in a series of familiarisation stands, lectures and physical training activities. From getting to know one another's kit and equipment, to understanding each other's experiences and tactics on operations, the exercise will provide an excellent platform to learn from each other. It will culminate with a 72-hours joint exercise.
