RAF Personnel on Eagle Scheme 'Ex Per Ardua' today commemorated the 75th Anniversary of the 'Long March', that Allied Prisoners of War from Stalag Luft III were forced to make in January 1945. The RAF personnel paraded in Zagan, Poland, listening to commemorations from both Marek Lazarz, the director of the Stalag Luft III Museum, and Mr Andrzej Katarzyniec, the Mayor of Zagan. The personnel also dedicated thoughts to Air Commodore Charles Clarke, once a prisoner at Stalag Luft 3 and a familiar face on RAF Long Marches, who passed away last year. Following a Gun Salute by Polish Military and wreath laying by Squadron Leader (Sqn Ldr) Bob Ankerson (Ret'd) and Wing Commander Suzanne Senior, trumpeter SAC Adam Rosbottom played the Last Post as Sqn Ldr Steve Parlor Saluted on behalf of the Royal Air Force.

The Royal Air Force (RAF) has received the newest addition to the P-8A Poseidon fleet, City of Elgin ZP802. The aircraft which landed at Kinloss Barracks marks the second to be received whilst the runway and facilities at RAF Lossiemouth are being renovated. This renovation will allow the Poseidon fleet to fully operate from RAF Lossiemouth and provide maritime patrol capabilities for the RAF. Boeing’s P-8A Poseidon is a multi-role maritime patrol aircraft, equipped with sensors and weapons systems for anti-submarine warfare, as well as surveillance and search and rescue missions.  The P-8A’s comprehensive mission system features an APY-10 radar with modes for high-resolution mapping, an acoustic sensor system, including passive and multi-static sonobuoys, electro-optical/IR turret and electronic support measures (ESM).  This equipment delivers comprehensive search and tracking capability, while the aircraft’s weapons system includes torpedoes for engaging sub-surface targets.

The 45 members of TG Course 6-19, Meiktila Flight, gave up their Saturday to build a path through the existing Memorial Garden in order that the garden can be more easily accessible to all.

Royal Air Force Quick Reaction Alert Typhoon aircraft from RAF Lossiemouth and RAF Coningsby intercept Russian aircraft approaching UK Air Space on the 7th March 2020. An RAF spokesperson said: “This was a routine response to Russian aircraft approaching UK air space and was coordinated with several other NATO allies.”
