U.S Army Observer coaches demonstrate the proper way to build a concertina wire obstacle during Combined Resolve XIII at the Hohenfels Training Area in Hohenfels, Germany, Jan. 20, 2020. Combined Resolve XIII is a Headquarters Department of the Army directed Multinational Unified Land Operation exercise with the U.S. Regionally Aligned Force Brigade in support of European Command (EUCOM) objectives. The purpose of the exercise is to prepare the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division along with 16 other allied and partner nations to fight and win in the European theater. The exercise involves more than 5,000 service members at U.S. Army Europe's Grafenwoehr and Hohenfels Training Areas. U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Nolan Dofredo, 17th Security Forces Squadron, Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas, takes part in the obstacle course portion of the Air Education and Training Command Defender Challenge team tryout at Joint Base San Antonio-Medina Annex, Texas, Jan. 29, 2020. The five-day selection camp includes a physical fitness test, M-9 and M-4 weapons firing, the alpha warrior obstacle course, a ruck march and also includes a military working dog tryout as well.
